About the Artist

Angela Otcuoglu began her musical training at the age of seven at the Istanbul University State Conservatory. Her early promise was recognized with first prize at the 2003 Yamaha Competition. Throughout her career, Angela has had the opportunity to play for Maria João Pires, who, after hearing her, described her as having "something different from her generation." She has also received guidance from Vovka Ashkenazy, Pablo Galdo, Robert Silverman, Diane Andersen, Bruno Canino, and Andrei Diev, Merited Artist of Russia, who praised her as "a very talented, intelligent pianist."

Angela completed the Istanbul University State Conservatory's Superior Studies Program in the same year she graduated from Pierre Loti High School (French International School in Istanbul). In 2013, she began her studies at McGill University's Schulich School of Music in Canada, where she earned her Bachelor's degree under Professor Marina Mdivani, a pianist who performed for such eminent figures as Emil Gilels, Stravinsky, and Shostakovich.

She has won top prizes in international competitions based in Canada, the United States, Russia, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Poland, and Austria, in both solo piano and composition. As a composer, Angela has written more than forty works for piano, chamber music, and orchestra.

Angela earned her Master's degree in piano performance under Professor Sara Laimon and completed The Global Leaders Program, an executive graduate certificate in social entrepreneurship, teaching artistry, civic leadership, cultural agency, and organizational management, with a full scholarship and major travel grant.

As a collaborative pianist, Angela has enjoyed working with Jean Marchand, Theodore Baskin, and vocal coaches such as Annamaria Popescu, Michael McMahon, and Joanne Kolomyjec on a wide range of art-song repertoire, and has collaborated as a ballet pianist.

A strong believer in social change through music, Angela has performed, lectured, and taught masterclasses in South America in support of music education, and has also performed in retirement homes across several countries in  North and South America. In Chile, she has supported a rural youth orchestra program with social goals, contributing to community life through music.

Beyond her work as a musician, Angela expresses her artistic vision through MusicWonderland, a line of original music-inspired designs featured on lifestyle products. These creations allow enthusiasts and supporters to bring a piece of her artistic world into their everyday lives.

Angela is the founder of Las Conchillas Music Academy and the Las Conchillas International Music Competition. She has also served as President of the World Piano Teachers Association (WPTA) in Canada.​​
